Network Readiness
Overview
The integration of telephony services into the data network has the potential to drive major changes in organizations by delivering information more efficiently than today’s dual-network approach. A converged voice, video and data network improves customer care capabilities, increases employee productivity, and enhances corporate agility. Our Network Ready – Assessment (NRA) helps customers that are considering migrating to a new technology, application, Voice/Video over IP (VVoP), or ensure compliance to standards. The AMK team works with you and your organization at all appropriate levels to identify your organizational requirements, analyzes your IT infrastructure.
Why you need an Assessment
- Your network is experiencing degraded performance or failure
- You need to increase network performance and decrease failures
- You require a network capacity evaluation to support anticipated changes or advances in technology
- You need to prepare for a planned expansion or merging of different networks
Our Methodology
Through our defined best practices methodology, we will review with you the elements needed to conduct the network assessment, their readiness, and the network assessment process. We will gather high level/global and protocol-specific statistics of your network. This will include a traffic analysis of selected individual network segments and information on your network’s topology, physical cable plant, and hardware and software configurations. Information will be gathered by:
- Taking a remote inventory of your networking equipment including hardware and software configurations of routers, bridges, switches, and hubs, that are SNMP-manageable;
- Documenting selected routers’ LAN and WAN interface configurations;
- Working with you to assist in documenting other WAN equipment such as CSUs/DSUs, if applicable
- Temporarily installing a network analyzer on your network and use it to capture all base-line and performance data
The Deliverable
Utilizing the collected information we will:
- Consolidate and analyze all of the data and prepare a report of our findings and recommendations, including an analysis and assessment of your current network conditions
- Identify issues that may cause performance problems
- Recommend configuration changes to improve performance and reliability
You will receive two reports one is the Network Spec Book (NSB) that documents your equipment configurations, network topology, and the results of captured traces. The NSB is the foundation for your IT Infrastructure and is intended to be maintained by the IT organization. The second is a Network Readiness Report (NRP). This report will include an objective analysis of your network’s current state and an expert recommendation for network performance improvement.
